About the Event

Join Science & Policy Exchange for the 2nd edition in our Public forum series. The fast-paced advancement of AI & disruptive technologies will impact several sectors, especially in #healthcare. We will be exploring the present & future of these technologies and their impact on healthcare as well as possible #policy solutions with the help of our guest speakers!

#SPEForum Format: Each speaker will get 10 - 15 minutes, followed by a 15-20 minute discussion period led by the moderator.

Speakers:

Azadeh Dastmalchi,

CEO and co-founder of Vital tracer, a medical startup that designs wearable medical devices that can help identify multiple conditions/diseases such as #COVID19. Azadeh Dastmalchi also won the Social Entrepreneur and Pitch Competition Award from Mitacs for her company, VitalTracer.

Dr.Jason Millar

Dr.Millar specializes in ethical engineering of Robotics & AI, part of the U. of Ottawa Tech Law, working in policy and eng of automated vehicles among other disruptive technologies. He consults internationally on policy and ethical engineering issues in emerging healthcare technology.

Dr.Plinio Morita

Dr.Morita is the head of the UbiLab in the School of Public Health & Health Systems at the U. of Waterloo and holds the J.W. Graham Information Technology Emerging Leader Chair in Applied Health Informatics. His research team focuses on using big data and AI to improve current public health surveillance mechanisms and support countries in the monitoring of health indicators.

Dr.Jean-Christophe Belisle Pipon

Dr. Belisle Pipon is an expert in bioethics whose research lies at the interface of health policies, citizen and patient engagement in research and health governance, as well as business practices.
